Our new skatepark is here!

“If you’re really going to be a world-class city and you’re going to invest in recreation, you need to think beyond traditional sports. Thus, we’ve invested in our first skate park and we’re probably going to be doing more.”

— Steven Fulop, Mayor, Jersey City

UPDATE: July 19, 2023: The new park is completed and ready to ride! Big thanks to all of our supporters, community members and sponsoring businesses for helping us achieve this milestone.  We couldn’t have done this without the unlimited patience and perseverance of John Hirliman and the Saratoga Recreation Department, ongoing support from Mayor Ron Kim and the City Council, a generous matching campaign sponsored by our friends at Deathwish Coffee, support from Saratoga Smashburger, Darling Donuts and Stewart’s, the kindness and spirit of our friends at Seasons Skate Shop and Town and Country Skateboards, the Saratoga Institute who allowed us to operate and fundraise with 501(c)(3) status, Our buddies from Null/Void Apparel and Wool Skateboards, Brad from Pillar Design Studios, Ben and the crew from Artisan, who built the park in heat, rain, smoky skies and with smiles and fistbumps the whole time, and of course all of the local skaters, parents, and supporters we’ve met over the years. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottoms of our hearts.

UPDATE: September 9, 2022: We have lowered the visible fundraising goal on our GoFundMe to incorporate the donated funds on other platforms. Our overall goal is still $85,000. We have sent out a press release detailing our current fundraising initiatives and dialogue with the City and School District. In addition, there will be a meeting on September 27th with the Recreation Commission to discuss any concerns and build dates. The commission is a Mayor appointed board of volunteers who make recommendations to the Mayor and the City of Saratoga Springs.

On Tuesday, 8/3/2021, Saratoga’s City Council voted in favor of allocating $265,000 towards construction of a new skatepark at the East Side Recreation complex. This is a huge offer that will cover the majority, but not all of, the construction costs. ON DECK is looking to reach $350,000 in funding in order to make our park as amazing as it can be, so please consider helping us close the gap by donating!

We have also setup a GoFundMe to help with our efforts, so be sure to check it out.
